The Pilgrimage (1)

The Iona Community lead a pilgrimage around the Island every week, stopping at appropriate places - here the nunnery ruins - for a brief reflection. There is a less energetic route for those who can't manage walking across the hills and boggy bits.

The route leads up the hill from the village

To the only crossroads on the island, once rather more important a meeting point than now

And then up into the hills at the south of the island

Malcom leads us further on

We take a short rest to let the others catch up

Malcolm points out some of the islands we can see. Some people say that on a clear day you can even see Ireland - but I think there is never a clear enough day on Iona.

And coming down to St Columba's Bay, where he probably didn't land
